Government Idea To Ban Violent Video Games

Do you think the government should ban violent video games? In Washington state, Gary Locke signed a bill making it illegal to sell violent games to anyone under 17 years of age. If someone was caught selling these violent games to minors, they would be fined $500. It will be a challenge to make this law to protect our youth.

Washington became the first state to ban violent video games. In 2002, Indianoplois spent about $700,000 to pay arcades attorneys because minors where playing these violent games. Since Washington banned these games, New York brought in two bills to ban violent games.


If some parents dont want their kids to play violent video games, they should raise their children to learn that violence is bad. Parents responsibilty is to keep thier children away from these kind of games If these games are on the internet. They are in arcades around them. Some are where young people gather around these violent games.Keith Wright and Aurelia Greene both proposed laws that took violent games and put them into a adult section.


Keith had an idea to show an I.D. for ayone who is under the age of 30. Researchers suggest these games can damage a child's physical fuctioning. This may cause for seisures or the rise of thier blood pressure. Pediatricians and phychologist thik that violent games are very harmful to children. If they play a lot of violent games it may cause aggressive behavior.

In at least seven states they have proposed bills againist children playing violent games. This happened due to the horrorfying college shooting such as Virgina Tech's shooting last year. There is a fact that violent games are helpful because they help soldiers trian for the military. So in some ways violent games are helpful and other ways are very harmful
